On May 6-9, Mayor Fei Gaoyun led Changzhou delegation to Korea for economic & trade negotiations together with Jiangsu Province delegation.

The delegation first visited Incheon, met with Incheon Tourism Organization and went on-site tour at Incheon Medical Theme Park and International St. Mary’s Hospital. The Tourism Organization is promoting the city to become a high-end medical sightseeing spot in Northeast Asia. The hospital is well equipped with advanced medical instruments and is building a medical theme park. Last year Changzhou and the hospital had negotiations on a new project located beside West Taihu Lake. The Mayor Fei Gaoyun said that Changzhou is strongly pushing forward the development of healthcare industry and the establishment of West Taihu Lake International Medical Tourism Zone. We hope to strengthen the cooperation with St. Mary’s Hospital to speed up the project in Changzhou. And there should be space for tourism cooperation between the two parties.

Hyundai Heavy Industries is a globally leading comprehensive heavy industry enterprise, and has good cooperation foundation with Changzhou. Hyundai(Jiangsu) Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. is a joint venture by Hyundai Heavy Industries and Changlin Group. Changzhou Hyundai Hydraulic Machinery Co., Ltd. is founded in 2007. Fei Gaoyun stated during the meeting with the CEO of Hyundai China, Changzhou is building an intelligent manufacturing city and hope to further promote cooperation with Hyundai to achieve win-win situation. Hyundai appreciated the support from Changzhou government and explained the plan of more investment and expansion in Changzhou in the future.

Samsung SDI is a subsidiary of Samsung Group in electronics field, and the main business of it is lithium battery pack, which occupies the biggest market share in the world. Fei Gaoyun stated during the visit that Changzhou regards new energy and new material industries as key strategic industries, and hope to deepen the exchange and cooperation with Samsung and share mutual development. The leadership of Samsung SDI expressed their confidence in developing in Changzhou.

Changzhou delegation also visited SK Group and Saemangeum Economic Zone together with Jiangsu Province delegation. SK is the third biggest multinational company in Korea, with energy & chemical and information communication as its two pillar industries. Saemangeum Economic Zone is the largest marine reclamation land project in Korea, and will build a Sino-Korea Economic Cooperation Zone around 2020. During the stay in Korea, Changzhou Delegation attended Jiangsu Korea Economic & Trade Cooperation Communication Conference to further strengthen the cooperation with Korea.

In recent years, Changzhou shares more and more close economic & trade relationship with Korea. In 2015, the trade between Changzhou and Korea reached 1.38 billion USD, increased by 8.7%. Till the end of last year, 236 Korean enterprises have been approved with the contract capital of 810 million USD, registered capital of 250 million USD. The main industries Korean companies investing in are machinery, electronics, chemical, textile, garment and etc.
