A Modification of Changzhou Administrative Divisions commencing in July
Changzhou ushers in another historic reform. A formal announcement has been made by the Changzhou Municipal Party Committee and Changzhou Municipal Government whereby Changzhou will reorganize some of its administrative divisions based on an in-depth investigation and research and also approved by Jiangsu Provincial Government and the State Council of China.
According to documents issued by the State Council, Changzhou will repeal the existing Wujin District and Qi Shuyan District and establish a New Wujin District. The New Wujin District includes the former Wujin District (Benniu, Zhenglu and Zouqu Town not included) and Qi Shuyan District. The government of the New Wujin District is located in No. 28, Yanzheng Zhong
At the county-level Jintan City will be repealed and a new Jintan District will be established, which will be affiliated with Changzhou City. The government of Jintan District will be located in No. 88 Huayang Nan Road, Xicheng Street.
The former Benniu Town in Wujin will belong to Xinbei District and the former Zhenglu town in Wujin will belong to Tianning District. Zouqu Town will belong to Zhonglou District. After repealing Qi Shuyan district, the former Qi Shuyan Economic Development Zone will be renamed as Jiangsu Changzhou Economic Development Zone.
According to the reorganization timetable, the new administrative Division plan will be formally implemented starting from July 1st.
